ABC puts call out for preschool script ideas
The ABC in Australia is seeking 'expressions of interest' from potential coproducers for preschool television programming as part ofthe second Children's Special Television Project.
In addition to meeting the ABC's local broadcast requirements, the programme concept must also have broad international potential in both television programme sales and ancillary rights exploitation.
The ABC will back the selected project with a mixture of cash and production facilities.
Expressions of interest, including a treatment, must be submitted tothe ABC no later than February 28.
The first Children's Special Television Project commissioned a puppet series called Five Minutes More (65x5') that is scheduled to go into production in 2006. A copro between UK prodco Snow River Media and Australian producer Buster Dandy Productions, the series follows five 'lovable' toy friends who live on a patchwork quilt that covers a child's bed.
Disney UK has acquired the pay-TV rights to the show and Five Minutes More will air locally on ABC and ABC2.
