IndieWIRE

From an email to indieWIRE newsletter subscribers -July 14, 2006Dear indieWIRE Readers,I envision a day when I can go to the indieWIRE site, type your name into our search engine and find a page with your bio and background, photos, and maybe even a link to your film trailer or a video clip.Well, we are not far from that day. I can already do that for nearly 2,500 indieWIRE readers. So, as indieWIRE hits its 10th anniversary this weekend, I wanted to tell you a bit more about indieLOOP and invite you to activate your membership and join the new online community at indieWIRE.com. We quietly launched iLoop earlier this year and there are now nearly 2,500 members visiting the section regularly. If you are familiar with websites like MySpace and Friendster, you've no doubt seen the power of building networks of people online. If you've never joined an online social network, I hope you will give this one a try. With indieLOOP, it all starts with a personal page on the indieWIRE website that you can use to connect with other like- minded people who are specifically involved in international independent film. Its a great way to promote your own work or company to a captive audience, other indieWIRE readers. When you have a moment, please visit: http://social.indiewire.com[For detailed instructions, see the end of this email message.]As you move around the site you'll notice sections where you can create your own professional bio page, add links to your personal website, blog, trailers, photos and clips. You can trade messages with other iLoop members, post journal and blog entries and promote or learn about events from the member calendar. Also, don't miss the Listings section, a new free classifieds area where you can buy, sell, trade or share services, products and information. There is also a powerful search tool that will allow you to filter and find other members of indieLOOP.Even before we launched indieWIRE ten years ago, we imagined a vibrant online community that connected film people with film people. Finally, with indieLOOP we are able to offer just that, for free. The tools are there, they just need people like you to use them!INSTRUCTIONS:In order to lock in your username for indieLOOP, you need to go to the "YOUR SETTINGS" section on the top right hand corner of the indieWIRE main page and and follow the steps from there. (You must be logged in to access your settings.)Once you lock that username, you will automatically be prompted to fill out a profile and bio.If you cannot remember your password, just enter your email at the login prompt and a reminder question will be generated.See you in indieLOOP!Best,Eugene HernandezEditor-in-Chief & Co-Founder
