NYC: Spanish Cinema Now

FILM SOCIETY OF LINCOLN CENTER PRESENTS SPANISH CINEMA
NOW THROUGH 12/28
Film Society of Lincoln Center Presents Spanish Cinema Now -The Film Society of Lincoln Center and Instituto Cervantes are presenting the 14th edition of Spanish Cinema Now. The films in the series -- which will run through Wednesday, December 28 -- were chosen because they represent some of the finest in current Spanish cinema. Among the films that will screen is Montxo Armendariz's "Obaba," Spain's official nominee for a Best Foreign Language Oscar.

"Obaba" concerns a university student who travels to rural Obaba to study the people who live there. Five film adaptations of Miguel de Cervantes' "Don Quixote de la Mancha," including Orson Welles' incomplete version, are also part of the series. Jousting with Shadows and Light: "Don Quixote" on Screen commemorates the 400th anniversary of the original publication of Cervantes' book.
