Mash Up Album
JANET JACKSON AND DJ RESET RELEASE THEIR TRIBUTE TO SLY AND THE FAMILY STONE New York, NY
February 7, 2006 – "Thank You Nation 1814,” produced by DJ Reset, is a new track featuring elements of Janet Jackson's 1989 hit "Rhythm Nation" and Sly Stone's 1969 classic "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin).” The record is featured on “Different Strokes By Different Folks” (Epic/Legacy), a new, one of a kind collaboration album, re-imagining the timeless and influential hits of Sly and the Family Stone by a current generation of chart-topping stars also including Maroon 5, The Roots, John Mayer, Moby, John Legend, and many others. Critically acclaimed New York-based producer DJ Reset (aka Jeremy Brown) recently made history with the first commercially released mash-up ever, "Frontin' on Debra," a brilliant hybrid of Beck's "Debra" and Pharrell Williams & Jay-Z's "Frontin'." The single was called "miraculous" by The New York Post and "a surprisingly Stevie Wonder-esque delight" by Rolling Stone Magazine. "To have access to the original Sly Stone Master Recordings is a dream for any producer," commented Brown, "I am also really flattered that Janet Jackson, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis agreed to do this thing." Sly and the Family Stone are credited as one of the first racially integrated bands in music history, belting their message of peace, love, and social consciousness through a string of hit anthems that fused R&B, Soul, Funk, and Rock 'n' Roll. On "Different Strokes by Different Folks," a stylistically, culturally, and racially disparate group of chart-toppers mirrors that idealistic diversity. A complete track listing is below.
